Wow, what a journey! Looking back over the last 23 months of my life, I am amazed at how one choice could make such a difference. When I was getting started with Arbonne, even RVP seemed only a dream for an ordinary person like myself. That is one of the things I love so much about this business; your dreams do not stay only dreams for long. They become reality.
I am so blessed to have been given this gift at the age of 24. I became an RVP in nine months and one week from my start date, and an NVP just 14 months after that! In the midst of this, I had my first little boy, Damian.
I will take you back to my roots, so that you can see why Arbonne has truly been a life changing gift for me. I was raised in Sierra Leone in West Africa—a fifth world country by the UN’s standards—until I was 14 and a half. My parents were missionaries there for 22 and a half years, I was lucky to have been their child! We all loved Africa so much, but were forced to leave our home due to a civil war in 1995. Sierra Leone is now one of the greatest parts of my Why in this business—what inspires me and what keeps me focused on my dreams.
I always say Arbonne came to me by a miracle. ENVP Tammy Higginbotham shared the gift of Arbonne with a girl in Norman, OK at a car hop, who gave this gift to her sister, Leigh, who then tried to give it to my best friend, Anna, who replied, “I have great skin; call my friend Sheri, she is always trying to find the best skin care.” And so it was that Leigh sent me a sample of the Arbonne products, but I was actually scared to try it, as I had such sensitive skin and did not want to break out. After lots of research on the Arbonne difference, I found out that their pure, safe skin care regimen was just what I had been looking for! I tried my sample and fell in love with the Arbonne products! It was such that when my husband, Gannon asked me what I wanted for birthday and anniversary presents that year, I said “Arbonne.” He let me sign up to be a Consultant to get discount pricing and special product promotions, like the “RSVP”—$700 worth of products for $350! I honestly did not even know what all I was ordering; I was just excited.
One morning, I woke up and prayed that I would somehow know if I was supposed to do the Arbonne business. Moments later, my phone rang. It was ENVP Carleeta Nelson; in my mind, she was like the president of the company. I could not believe that she would take time to call me. She called to welcome me to Arbonne and to let me know she was here to help me if I needed it. I remember telling her that if I could make about $1,000 a month, I could stay home and have a baby. She has since been my coach in this business, and so much of my success is credited to her!
I have learned so much on my Arbonne journey and feel so humbled to be able to help someone else who may be like I was when I started my business. I would say the best tips of advice I could give you is to never compare yourself with anyone but yourself, and to keep your eyes on your dreams and Why. This business requires sacrifice, and it can seem even impossible at times, but if you mind your mind and keep your focus you are unstoppable. Only you can take your dreams away from you. A prominent motivational author has said that if you want what your upline has, you have to do what your upline has done. Be patient with yourself and know that your journey is yours. Enjoy it! That is what it is all about.
People often ask what makes Arbonne so different. I say that it is two things. Number one is the products. There is no way we would have the success we do without the fantastic products that Arbonne has given us to share at such a great price. Number two is the business plan. This business plan works. If you work the SuccessPlan, you will be successful. I always tell people that the only way this will not work, is if you do not work. I see so many people quit before payday and my heart hurts for them. If I can do this, you can too; I promise! Believe in yourself and know that you deserve all your dreams! This being said, the biggest thanks go out to all of the corporate office staff. You are awesome to work with and we are blessed to have you!
Arbonne has given me so much, and these are just a few things I am so thankful for. First, friends: I have been blessed with the closest friends in this business and they are priceless. Second, travel: I have always loved to travel but we have never been able to afford it before now. One thing is for sure: When you earn a trip with Arbonne it is the best vacation you will ever go on! You have to keep earning them, because there is no comparing personal vacations to Arbonne vacations. Third, finances: I know it is true that money is not everything, but you have to have it to survive! Also, I know in our home before Arbonne, money was always something to stress and argue about. The financial peace that comes with success in this business is truly a gift.
To our President Rita Davenport, your leadership, love and example have paved the way for us. You are an amazing person and we are so blessed to have you as our leader.
There are so many people that have played a big part in my success and I know that without their support, I would not be where I am today.
To my best friend and husband, Gannon: Thank you so much for believing in me and supporting me along the way, even when it meant putting yourself last. There is no way I could have done this without you. I am sure most girls are jealous of me. Not only are you the best husband, but you are the best daddy! Damian loves you so much. Thanks for never looking at being a dad as merely babysitting. I love you so much and I know God has so much in store for our future. You are His greatest gift to me!
Damian, you have given me an even bigger Why to keep moving forward. I want to be the best mommy for you and I am so thankful that you have always had a stay-at-home mom. Thanks for all your hugs and kisses when I need them most. Mommy loves you so much! Pat, Dave and Jen, you are the exception to all the in-law stories! Thanks for always believing in me and supporting me on this journey. You have done so much to make this possible and I do not take it for granted! I am blessed to have you.
