“If you focus on this business being hard, it will be hard, and if you focus on it being fun, it will be fun … you decide!”
Arbonne is one of the most incredible opportunities you will ever come across. It has been said that in life you are lucky to get one, or maybe two, real life-changing opportunities. I do not know if this is your first or last time to get that opportunity, so I encourage you to take a serious look at Arbonne.
If you are thinking to yourself, “Network marketing is one of ‘those things!’ No thanks, not interested,” then you are where I was just a year-and-a-half ago. Arbonne is different — from the products to the people, it is a class act. Besides, you are probably already recommending all kinds of things to your friends right now; you are just not getting paid for it.
That is how I started with Arbonne; I fell in love with the products and began telling my family, friends and neighbors about them. Friends were stopping by the house to try my “Swiss-formulated products,” but I had no intention of really “doing the business.” I had never sold anything and did not want to. I also do not like being “sold to,” and my friends do not like it either, so I decided I would never “sell” the products, just offer everyone the best products at market cost. I did not want to make money off my friends, but if Arbonne wanted to pay me just for opening my mouth, that was fine.
If there was ever anyone who had no business doing this business, it was me. I had zero computer skills (some things never change) and did not even own a cell phone. I also did not want my own business. My husband had a great job and made great money, however, he worked two hours away. I was busy enough with two small children and the activities that come along with being a full-time mom.
A couple of weeks went by and I learned I was almost a DM. Here I was, “doing a business” I did not really want to do, and it was really fun! It was a win-win situation and I got hooked. I started to think I could really do something big with this.
I read network marketing books, began handing out at least two sample packs a day and held Presentations twice a week. About two months later, I was at a meeting when ENVP Linda Parker asked us, “How many of you know someone who has been laid off?” My heart tugged a little at this. Prior to my husband landing his high-paying executive position, he had been laid off for several months. During that time, our children were both under the age of 5, and our little boy was undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia. I was scared. The thought of going back to work and leaving my children in the care of someone else kept me up at night. Knowing I would never get “laid off” from Arbonne, I decided to build my business as our plan B. I believed in myself, the company and the products, though I still did not believe in the business. I sponsored everyone I could, but I did not have a single business builder because I thought no one would want to do this business with me … after all, it was a network marketing company and I thought others had the same issues I did.
After four months, I was still in business by myself, about to finish Area qualification and wondering when I would get a team. Linda Parker assured me if this business was good enough for me, it would be good enough for the people I knew. She asked if I was seeking out business builders. I was not — I was all about the products and not the business. I made a shift and started talking about the business. I found five business builders the next month, and we not only finished Area, but did first step Region! You never know who is looking for a way out.
There are times this business is hard, and there are times it is too easy; either way, it is always simple. I grew up listening to my parents say, “Work hard, study hard and whatever you choose to do in life, be your own boss.” Neither one of my parents came from money, yet I watched them both build incredible businesses by staying focused, committed and not giving up.
My goal was to become an NVP by NTC 2005 Las Vegas. In order to reach my goal, we would have to do Nation in two steps. I never let my goal out of my mind or my sight; I had it written down and thought about it all the time. There is a lot to be said for the power of the mind and, “What you think about you bring about.” … Thanks, Rita!
We held our intention, listened only to those who believed in us and we did it! We went first step Nation in February and finished Nation by March. My team and I showed up at NTC Las Vegas 2005 as the Tiffany Bufton Nation and I could not be any prouder of my team!
Arbonne offers an equal playing field for everyone, but there are no shortcuts. In order to “get the get, you’ve got to do the do.” Believe this business is for everyone. It does not matter if you are pink, purple or polka dotted, you can do this! Be coachable because the best copy cat wins. Attend everything and always be a student. Courage will find you when you go for it. It is critical to set goals, write them down and look at them daily. Massive activity equals massive results. Always keep your feet moving because momentum is your best business partner. And keep it fun!
My husband was just able to retire from corporate America; my family and I are so blessed to be together every day. My cup is overflowing — I am fulfilled and my family is behind me 110 percent. My 3-year-old daughter even told her class, “Mommy just went Nation and reached her goal.” It is fantastic to know that my young children understand the importance of setting and reaching goals!
When I had children, I gave up my successful career in television news. I always thought I would be able to “have it all” in life, just not all at the same time, but I was wrong. With Arbonne, you can truly have it all. I have wonderful earning potential and I get to stay at home with my kids. And you can have it all, too. If you knew what I knew, there is no way you would pass this by.
Past struggles have taught me great lessons and helped me guide so many others on their journeys. I know I am a better person, wife, mom and friend because of Arbonne, and I would not trade that for anything.
Becoming an NVP was the easiest move I ever made in my business. With amazing RVPs such as Felicia Wootsick, Kathy Deprest and my stepmom, Carol Brewka, Marie Silverstein and my husband, Scott, it is clear why we are successful! Thank you for “getting it” and sharing my vision, enthusiasm and commitment. You are incredible and your support and love mean the world to me.
I am so blessed to enjoy this fun-filled journey with my RVPs-in- qualification, Lori Evanko, Kim Case, Scott Silverstein and my mom, Sue Tierney. You are wonderful leaders.
To the rest of our AM team, including Robin Tannous, Stephanie Luper, Sue Smith, Blakey Bohler, Carolyn Constantine, Laura Henelund, Dagmar Wittmer, Melinda Czeczon, Tricia Confoy, Karren Buchanan and Marsha Herbert: You own the next fleet of white Mercedes-Benzes. I cannot wait! You are on your way. Let’s go!
Next, I would like to thank all of the DMs in our Nation committed to growing their businesses. You all work so hard and I appreciate every one of you.
To my sponsor, ENVP Tracey Gatchel and her sponsor, ERVP Elizabeth Sanchez: Thank you for the gift of Arbonne.
To ENVP Linda Parker: You are a gutsy gal for starting this on your own in Pennsylvania and getting us up and running. Thanks for reaching down and teaching me how to go Region. I am following in your footsteps, and your vision goggles were right!
To ENVP Cecilia Stoll: You are so special to me and have taught me so much. It is you and Oprah, babe! I love you.
ENVPs Martha McIntyre and Neta Irwin move through life with mobility and grace. You are both wonderful examples of triumph and I am proud to call you my upline.
So much of this was possible because of my right-hand man and husband, RVP Scott Bufton. You have been so incredibly helpful. You believed in me and this business even when I did not. You told me I could do it and reminded me to breathe. Thank you for eating whatever was around, handling the house and picking up where I left off with the kids. I love you.
To Saber and Izzy: You are my biggest joys in life, and the most fantastic kids any mommy could hope for. I cherish all of our cuddle times and special talks. “I love you to infinity!”
To my brother, Doug: How can I thank you for all you have done to help me? You are so much more than a brother, godfather to my son or assistant to my business. I love your quiet voice and appreciate your patience. You bring so much peace into my life. I love you.
To my personal trainer, Brent Musselman: Thanks for pushing me to be the best I can be and reminding me to “make it look easy.” I had to stay focused to reach my goal, and you helped keep me fired up. (That’s awesome!)
I am so proud to represent this company. Thank you, Arbonne. Thank you, Founder Petter Mørck, for your vision and gentle spirit. Thank you, Executive Vice President Stian Mørck, for taking us to the next level and caring about what is most important. Thank you, President Rita Davenport, for your funny, frank phone calls and for being the leader we all want to follow. Thank you, Sr. VP Product Development & Marketing, Candee Keefe, for being so sharp, smart (and tall!). You make us all laugh and you are fabulous! To the VP Support team: Thank you for always being so professional and striving for excellence. I am so impressed with our new Chairman & CEO Bob Henry. We are lucky to have him at the reins.
I am so humbled and thankful to be in a leadership position where I can share an amazing opportunity that can be obtained with hard work, honesty and integrity.
Lastly, I want to thank the dream giver … Thy will be done.
