SUCCESS STRATEGY:

“Change your life by changing your beliefs.”

Are you skeptical? If you are, then you will fit right in! I hope you are taking a look at this gift called Arbonne. Where else can you be your own boss, have the potential for time freedom and financial peace of mind, great friendships, possibly earn great incentives and gifts, have fun, associate with like-minded people and surpass your highest expectations?

If you are at all skeptical about this opportunity, join the club! I was very skeptical about network marketing. I had failed with a previous company and when I met my future sponsor, ENVP Donna Weiser, I was dismayed to learn she was thinking of starting a network marketing business called Arbonne. However, I valued her and trusted she made the right decision when she decided to join Arbonne.

I watched Donna successfully grow her business for six months, and continued to ask her all kinds of questions. However, I was quick to get off the phone for fear that she was going to ask me to join her. It was not until one day at lunch that she gently said, “Liz, why not do Arbonne with me? I know you are interested and I know you would be great at this!” That was in 1993.

My husband made a great living, but owning a home in Southern California and raising a child is almost impossible on one income. We got by, but had to be frugal with our money – and “frugal” was a term I was starting to hate! I decided to join Arbonne to possibly earn some extra money. That was how it began. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would someday be a National Vice President.

After attending Arbonne’s conference in NTC 1993 Nashville, I returned home with the “big picture view” that showed me I could really do this business. Unfortunately, I had a belief system that said otherwise. For the next eight years, my business went up and down. Without retiring my Consultant ID number, I walked away from my business on two separate occasions. I was very frustrated by my lack of progress. I suffered from a lack of self-belief and self-confidence. I did not believe I had what it took to be a vice president. That was something I could certainly see Donna achieving, and even for others, but I could not see it for myself.

My poor self-esteem kept me from even being able to talk to President Rita Davenport! Back in 1995, we were waiting for Rita to arrive and speak at one of our meetings. There was some bad weather and her plane was delayed. While we were waiting, I left the hotel meeting room, and as I was walking down the hallway, I saw Rita coming. My lack of self-confidence made me duck into a nearby bathroom because I could not imagine what I would say and I was sure she would not want to talk to me anyway! That is what it was like for me for those eight years.

In January of 2001, I was attending a retreat sponsored by my upline, ENVP Sandra Tillinghast. When Sandra told me to read a book by Dr. Shad Helmstetter about self-talk, I had no idea how much my life was about to change. I immersed myself in the book and it became very clear to me how much my negative self-talk was getting in my way. I realized I had the power already within me to make vice president a reality. It was all in what I chose to believe about myself.

I followed the suggestions in the book by writing positive affirmations on three-by-five cards. I carried those cards with me wherever I went. I read them constantly. I knew I had to learn a new language and I also knew that reading them a little bit here and a little bit there was going to do me no good. I was serious about changing my beliefs about who I was and what I was capable of.

I began to “see” myself differently. I do not really know how to explain it, but I could definitely feel the changes taking place inside. Two-and-a-half years after the suggestion to read the book and actively applying the techniques I learned, I became a Regional Vice President.

At my Mercedes-Benz car presentation, I wanted to leave everyone in the room with a positive, affirming message. I decided to create three-by-five cards with positive statements on them and leave them at every place setting. It was Donna Weiser who told President Rita Davenport about my story and the three-by-five cards. Rita remembered that she and Shad used to be old friends. Rita decided to look him up and see what his availability was on the evening of my Mercedes-Benz car presentation.

Imagine the look of surprise and complete shock on my face when I was standing with Donna, in front of 150 people, and she arranged to have Dr. Shad Helmstetter call me to personally congratulate me on my success. It was a moment I will never forget and I am forever grateful for it!

I want to thank Dr. Shad Helmstetter for his support in helping me get to National Vice President and also thank him for his talent in helping so many of us with our personal development. I am so thankful it is my story that introduced Dr. Helmstetter to Arbonne that ultimately helped him to realize that Arbonne is the company that offers others the gift of a lifetime. Being an inspiration to others is such an honor and I am very grateful for that opportunity.

Getting to NVP can never be done alone. There are many to thank and recognize, so I will start from the top.

To President Rita Davenport: I owe you so much. Your words of encouragement and love filled me up on a daily basis. Thank you so much for giving of yourself to all of us who hunger for recognition.

To ENVP Sandra Tillinghast: By now, you must know how much I think of you. Thank you for being a shining light for me.

To my sponsor, ENVP Donna Weiser: You never gave up on me. You trudged with me through the valley of doubt that I chose to stay in, and you were waiting for me when I decided to step out in faith and believe in myself. You always inspire me to be a great leader. Thank you so much. I love you.

I have an amazing group of crossline VPs, who are offer such great support and friendship. To ERVP Sally Hallada, NVP Stacey Upton, RVP Lorri Herman, RVP Ada Hambourger, ERVP Barbara Eisenthal, ERVP Zoe Jones: Thank you for everything.

To my first RVP, Kara Brandt: You raised the bar for my team. I thank you for that. You bring such leadership and wisdom with you. I enjoy working with you so much and know you will be an NVP very soon.

To RVP Debbie Eriksen: You are another gift to me and our team. It is so fun working with someone like you who “got it” from the very beginning. Your team is lucky to have you.

To RVP Tracey Valdez: Thank you for your commitment to never give up. I honor you for that. I am so proud of you and what you have built. You are the best.

To my AMs, Wendy Cipriotti, Petie Barnum-Wood, Paula Zajac, Debbie Gleim, Inge Schlegel, Danielle Spangle, Debbie Collins, Brigitte Toth, Erica Virture, Mark Brandt and Jessie Campagna: Thank you for your hard work that contributed to making us a Nation. Keep going, never stop believing in yourself and you will make it to the top.

To all of the DMs and Consultants in our Nation: Thank you for your hard work. Believe in yourself. You, too, will build your own Region.

To my mom and dad: Thank you for your support and encouragement. It really meant a lot to me. Mom, thanks for watching my numbers with me; it felt great having you cheer me on.

To my husband, Bill: I could not have done this without you. Thank you for always being there for me. I love you.

To my son, Joseph: Remember that whatever your mind can believe, you will achieve. I love you.

Finally, I want to thank my country, the United States of America, for allowing me to live with such freedom. Thank you also to the men and women of the armed forces of the United States for their courage and sacrifice. May God bless you and your families.

I am so grateful to Arbonne and this truly amazing opportunity. My life has never been better and I look forward to continuing to help others get what they want in life. Arbonne has been my vehicle to make my dream come true and I know it can be for you, too.
